hello! recently, i noticed that one of my main addictions over the past 2-7 years has been asymmetrical research bets for pedagogy/metalearning... apparently i rly rly rlyyy don't like bad pedagogy, and apparently i rly rly believe in the power of sniffing out Good Ideas to fix that.
it turns out it's possible to make learning wayyyy more efficient than most people think, by multiple orders of magnitude!! and many fields are largely preparadigmatic wrt metalearning, and their SOTA pedagogies have lots of nontrivial low-hanging fruit! and it seems like there's so few people working on this problem!∗
specifically, i'm currently curious about...
- how can we reproducibly improve baseline wellbeing by multiple orders of magnitude? (i.e. rigorous wholesome happymaxxing)
- currently working on [lovingly untangling our inner world]∗∗ via experiments with [imaginal-somatic memory reconsolidation / internal family systems / coherence therapy / gendlin focusing]
- also working on [investigating & undoing particular 10-40hz mental motions which cause ~all suffering] via [meditation]
- how can we get untalented beginners to reproducibly become conversationally fluent at music? (i.e. able to play by ear (mimic), improvise (speak), compose (write) at an HSK4 level)
- currently working on a precise/unconfusing/rigorous generalization of particular micro mental motions outlined in DRSB by betty edwards
oh also i hang out at brown studying apma cs and physics
